It’s been six months since the new family additions arrived so thought it time for a photo op. They grow up quick. The headline photo is a little misleading. Like Peter Jackson shooting Lord of the Rings, it’s a camera perspective trick. Al the boy in back is double the size of Pico in front. Literally. He’s 3.9 kilos to her 1.6 kilos. And I remember being worried about every gram.
Mum had her appointment with the vet and got spayed soon after she stopped feeding months ago but Al had his own date with destiny just this week when he reached a safe age. If you have a furry dude in your life it may sound like a drastic proceedure but it saves him (and you) from a whole host of problems down the line. Not to mention the constant torment that are feminine wiles – and we all know how dangerous those can be. At his age he barely noticed and was back to bouncing off the furniture in just a few hours.
Everyone has had their vaccines and ID chips implanted. Pico will go back for her operation in a month or two when we (hopefully) get her a bit bigger but she may just be destined to stay tiny. Could be a bit of dwarfism or the effects of her slightly premature birth. She and Al are both healthy as can be now and that’s what matters. Well, that and pouncing on my head at 3am just to make sure I’m awake and paying attention.
